Need a little writers’ inspiration? I recently found a strange Dr. Seuss fact that I think warranted an entire post (albeit a short one). Did you know…
Dr. Seuss wrote ‘Green Eggs and Ham‘ as part of a wager? Yep, he was a gambler. His publisher bet him that there was no way he would be able to complete a book with only 50 different words. Soon enough, there was ‘Green Eggs and Ham.’ This fact caught my attention for a number of reasons.
1) Dr. Seuss not only won the bet and in fact created a book using only 50 words but..
2) ‘Green Eggs and Ham’ could possibly be his most successful book ever. I know when I think of Dr. Seuss, that’s the book that comes to mind.
3) Books with fewer words became a theme for him and he kind of set the tone for shorter children’s books.
4) You never know when something so small and (at the time), insignificant is going to explode into something huge and life-changing. Inspiration is everywhere. Be open to new possibilities, ideas, and perspectives and you might just stumble upon something that changes it all for you.
What’s something you’ve found inspiration in recently?
